At 3 months old in 1996, and over a 20-year period my son, Toby, suffered from a series of major illnesses.
Amongst other things, these included an 'incurable' kidney cancer, left nephrectomy, heart failure, stroke, and ultimately, a heart transplant.
Throughout that time, I witnessed the astonishing contribution gentle osteopathy made to his everyday state of health and quality of life and, in the end, to his recovery.
But what saddened me greatly, were the many hundreds of children I saw at Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Middlesex Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, St Thomas's Hospital, The John Radcliffe Hospital and the Onassis Heart Hospital in Athens, who were clearly in distress, obviously in hideous pain and living with relentless suffering.
Even though my own son was going through dreadful ordeals, I would look at those other children and thank God that I didn't have to deal with their lives.
I had osteopathy on my side and all I could feel was gratitude, even though I nearly lost him several times.
But how could I reach more of those families and tell them that osteopathy could at least help their children to suffer less?
For a long time, I had no idea.
But one Sunday morning, ten years ago, I woke up with the word Osteobiz floating through my mind and I knew that maybe there was a way...
And so, combining that experience and a lifetime in business, it seemed the most natural thing in the world to assist Osteopaths like you, who every day, ease people and children back to pain-free health.
